We enjoyed our stay in Christian's apartment in La Tejita near Montana Roja and El Médano. The apartment is well equipped with all your basic needs covered however it is not corresponding to the actual apartment description mentioned on the Interhome homepage. The stove wasn't working and we complained about that. The same afternoon Christian came and changed it. Swift service, problem solved and he is a very friendly and nice guy with good English skills. But as we have had this problem we had scrutinized our contract and found that several things were not as expected thus we thought we had been placed in the wrong apartment in the complex. He explained that he only had this place, as it was peoples private homes rented out, so a replacement was not an option but Interhome had written false information about the apartment. To the list of things mentioned that wasn't there: Flat screen TV (only a normal one), 4 hotplate stove with oven (only 2 hotplates and no oven but that got changed to a new 3 hotplate stove still with no oven), electric coffee machine, iron and hairdryer. We didn't care about the other things missing except maybe the hairdryer and the oven but the stove was most important to us. Hopefully the owner will get the description corrected. The terrace is facing north and the view is uninteresting but having said that the location is absolutely great if you are an independent traveler who is looking for peace and quiet. In the evening there is nothing to do but to read books. You are living with local people not other tourist. In the complex next to you you'll find a bar with a convenience store and wifi. Also the bus to Los Christianos passes by on the main road. You are right next to a big and beautiful beach with a local beach bar open during the day. You can walk to Montana Roja and El Médano 3 km away through the dunes and hiking passages (bring a light for when it is dark). Mind the slippery surface of rubble on the mountain and no you cannot go all the way around it. When you get to El Médano you'll find an unspoiled little town mostly dominated by surfers, locals and Spanish tourists. On the beach promenade you'll find cafés and restaurants with a sea view and no traffic. I can recommend renting a car with Autos Bello located right across from Hotel Medano. We got a really great service there with pick up where we lived and drop off at the Airport Hotel we moved to the last day. Nice functional Citroen C3. Return it as you receive it. The tourist information in El Médano is also very service minded and recommended us some great trips to take with the time given. A sudden storm snowed in Teide and they were also helpful calling up traffic information confirming the roads were closed so we didn't waste time trying to get there. Instead we went to see the Pyramids in Güimar, ate lunch in Candelaria and went shopping in La Laguna. Next trip we went to Masca, Icod de los Vinos and Casa de los Balcones. All in all we had a great stay in Tenerife and it is not the last time we'll stay in La Tejita, El Médano or maybe even the campsites in Montana Roja. Thumbs up :)
We really enjoyed the large rooms and terasses outdoor. It is great to have realy furniture inside and outside.
- There're no curtains or shutters on the windows
- The sheets are minimal (and not optional)
- The house was quite dirty despite the payment for the cleaning
- The manager of the property accused me to stole one (1) pillowcase the day after we left. The pillowcase has been obviously found after a while, it was left behind during the collecting.
I've enjoyed my stay in Stintino for the sea, the nature, the landscape, but, for a short stay of 4 days, too many thing that didn't work out with the house.
I definitely recommend :)
Arrival procedure - what a nonsense. Having paid for the sheets you have to collect them in person from the office. We made it by the skin of our teeth before the office closed for the weekend. Because our flight was delayed we arrived in Chamonix later than expected and had the office been closed we would have had no sheets at all! They are bulky to carry and I have photos of my husband looking like Santa Clause with a big white sack over his shoulder. It's the height of nonsense to expect arrivals to lug luggage and carry this bulky bad around Chamonix. On departure we had to return the sheets to the office again in said bag!
End cleaning - the previous tenant had presumably paid therefore we expected a clean apartment. The hard surfaces were clean but the living room carpet was disgusting with stains and grime and dirty black marks (photographed). It needs either professionally deep cleaned or dumped. Personally I would replace it. My bed sheet had a dirty brown mark on it (photographed) and the "white" patio furniture was grey with grime. I don't think it had been cleaned in years. Before I would set as much as a mug on it I scrubbed it with the dish scrubber (which I then couldn't use on the dishes!). Again we have photographic evidence. The best feature of the apartment is the wonderful view of Mont Blanc from the balcony. I don't know who is employed to clean this apartment but they could do with a lesson or two. I will never use Interhome again and I recommend that you steer clear of it too. I've used Wimdu many times and always been satisfied but not on this occasion.
Nice clean well equipped apartment. Very friendly hoists. Would recommend to all my friends.
