I don't speak English very well... So my daughters helped me with the translation! My daughters and your neighbor could answer all your questions in English, German and Spanish.
I try to be as flexible as possible for arrival and departure times and I am always happy to share my experience of the neighborhood with you.
The studio can host 2 to 4 people, and is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay
- Queen-size bed and sofa bed with fresh sheets
- WiFi, TV
- Iron and ironing board
- In the kitchen: microwave oven, induction hobs, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and regular utensils
- In the bathroom: fresh towels and basic cosmetic products, hair dryer, cosmetic mirror
The area is famous for its coffee shops and restaurants, with sunny terraces almost all year long.
It is also full of designers and artists shops, street art, and attracts a cosmopolitan crowd.
There are many groceries stores close to the studio, and lots of them are open every day and late at night.
If you are here on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday morning, I recommend you to go to La Plaine Market, where you can find everything you need… and more.
And if you are looking for the most well-known chains and brands, you can walk 10 minutes to Rue Saint Ferreol, Rue de Rome or Rue Paradis, the more conventional shopping streets.
The closest underground stop is 2 minutes away (Notre Dame du Mont-Cours Julien, on Line 2) and there are a few bus and tramway stops close to the flat.
You can also easily find bike hire and cabs.
At the heart of Marseille, free parking is not easy to find, but there are 2 public car parks 100 meters away, and there are many pay parking spaces on Place Jean Jaures.
A map with free parking streets is also available and you might be lucky, as people come and go frequently in this neighborhood.
An other studio is available in the same building. Please ask.
- turn the lights off and lower the heating when you are not in the studio,
- clean the flat before you leave and take the trash out
- place used sheets and towels in a basket.
Dear guests, please note that the price of the rent does not include cleaning fees, as some of you are happy to clean the apartment yourselves before leaving. In order to guarantee a great experience to the next visitors, we ask you to leave the flat as clean as you found it.
If you do not wish to clean yourself, please advise us upon arrival, let us know of your estimated departure time and leave €15 for the person who will take care of cleaning.
Please note that if you do not advise us and/or do not clean properly, €20 will be deducted from your deposit.

As advertised, the apartment is near to the main railway station 15 mins walk and the metro station is around the corner. The apartment is within walking distance to two well stocked supermarkets (Carrefour is one), pharmacies, and an outdoor market (for fish and grapes). I will say that at places the walk can be/feel steep because it's pretty hilly.
Physically the apartment itself is open plan. Well stocked with the modcons: cooker, refrigerator, TV, air conditioning (important) and internet access with wifi! The only downside was the shower but we were made to understand that it's a work in progress, so I'm sure it will be sorted by the time this review goes up.
Our landlady (Maxime) spoke very good English, and was very helpful in terms of acquitting us with maps, publicity around the local area, etc.
The apartment itself is located in a bohemian neighbourhood. There's a lot of graffiti- but it's more of a French thing in that it's seemingly for decoration and expression- and less an indication that the neighbourhood is on its way to ruin. There are quite a few art and clothing stores, and a few local/ethnic restaurants (didn't try any, sorry, so can't comment).
Overall a very pleasant place to stay, with enough warmth and modcons to feel like a temporary home.
Can truly recommend.
Valerie is a wonderful and charming person. She is a very good host and speaks english which was good for us because we don't speak french. The flat was really nice, comfortable, clean and you felt like you were home. Also it is in a very good location, so everything like monuments, cafes&restaurants and the old port is nearby. Thank you Valerie :)
