This apartment is ideal to visit Madrid with a family.
Ideally located to be able to visit Madrid walking, just 5 minutes away from the popular Gran Via and less than 10 minutes walk to Puerta del Sol and the old Madrid of the Austria royal family. You can also walk to the Museum Golden Mile (Prado, Thyseen or Reina Sofia). The apartment is in the heart of the nightlife area with Malasaña and Bilbao in the door. The tube station Noviciado is in front of the main door (lines 2,3 and 10) and you can also walk to lines 1 and 4. Impossible to list the numerous bus lines in a 500 m radio.
Once in Madrid, there are four main ways to get around the city: subway (metro), bus (autobuses), taxi (taxis), and suburban train (cercanías). You'll be pleasantly surprised to find that nearly everywhere in the proper centre you can reach in less than 45 minutes on foot. Taxis are ubiquitous and relatively inexpensive, but there's little reason to hop in a cab with such an efficient public transport system at your disposal.
The subway and city buses operate under the same fare and ticket system. Most travelers prefer the metro, which is faster and more reliable. Buses, on the other hand, reach more points in the city. "Cercanías" trains run on a different ticket and fare system; you'll depend on them if you need to get to the outskirt.
